Massage Therapy After a Motor Vehicle Collision
You’ve been in an accident. You hurt. Your life has changed.
Pain after a collision can affect far more than how you feel in the moment. It can change how you sleep, drive, work, turn your head, sit, lift, exercise, and manage normal daily activities.
At Tri-Cities Medical Massage, we specialize in massage and manual therapy for the muscle, fascia, and connective-tissue injuries that can follow a motor vehicle collision.
Our goal is not simply to make you feel better for an hour. We want to help you make meaningful progress in the things your injury has disrupted.
What We Treat
Post-collision massage therapy may be appropriate for problems including:
- Whiplash and neck pain
- Headaches
- Shoulder pain
- Rib and thoracic restriction
- Low back and hip pain
- Jaw pain
- Scar tissue
- Persistent muscle and fascial pain
- Pain or stiffness that limits normal daily activity
Some soft-tissue problems can persist long after bruising has faded and you expected to be feeling better.
The Soft-Tissue Side of Recovery
Your chiropractor, physician, or other provider may be addressing other parts of your injury and recovery.
Our role is focused.
We identify and treat muscular and fascial restrictions that may continue to contribute to pain, stiffness, limited movement, and difficulty with everyday activities.
We respect the treatment plan already established for you and communicate with the professionals involved in your care when appropriate.
We Track More Than a Pain Number
Your first visit establishes a clear starting point.
We look at how the collision has affected your:
- Pain
- Sleep
- Driving
- Work
- Movement
- Exercise
- Household activities
- Other normal daily activities
Then we track how those things change as treatment progresses.
Clear records help your other providers see your progress.
Your records should show how your injury has affected your life, how you respond to treatment, what has improved, and what limitations remain.
PIP May Help Pay for Your Treatment
Personal Injury Protection, commonly called PIP, is auto-insurance coverage that can help pay medical expenses related to an accident regardless of who caused the collision. In Washington, insurers must offer PIP, although a policyholder can reject it in writing. Coverage and individual policy limits vary.
We bill PIP directly when appropriate and help patients understand what information we need to begin treatment.
To use PIP for massage therapy, you’ll need a prescription or referral from your physician, chiropractor or other treating provider.
