“You should be back to full duty by now.”
Maybe your claim manager is wondering. Maybe your boss is. Meanwhile, you’re still hurting, and now there’s a claim number, an authorization process and a stack of forms on top of it.
Whether it was one bad lift, a fall or months of the same motion, your muscles and fascia took a load they couldn’t absorb. Strained muscle tightens to protect itself. Fascial layers can lose their glide. Trigger points can send pain somewhere else entirely, so the spot that hurts isn’t always the spot that’s causing it. None of that shows up on an X-ray.
And then it follows you home.
Into your sleep, your family and your weekends. A work injury doesn’t stay at work.
What we do about it
We start by understanding exactly how you were hurt and what it’s keeping you from doing, at work and at home. Then we treat with the tools that fit your injuries, and we track whether you’re getting function back, not just whether you feel better for an hour.
Washington L&I
If you have an open L&I claim, massage therapy may be covered when it’s appropriate for an accepted condition. L&I usually covers your first several visits without extra paperwork. If you need more, we handle the authorization request.
What we need
- Your L&I claim number and date of injury
- Accepted condition
- Claim manager’s information
- Attending provider’s information
- A referral or treatment order when it’s required
- Any massage visits you’ve already had on this claim
Records that keep up with you
L&I expects care to move you toward function, and so do we. We document your symptoms, what you can and can’t do, how you respond and how you’re progressing, so your record shows why care is being provided and how you’re doing.
